BEING FUTURE READY
Timing is everything.
The future success of the ECTA Agribusiness Value Chain, will entirely depend upon the existence of a robust, well integrated Supply Chain linking each sector and sub-sector of Australia’s agribusiness domain, to India’s Demand Chain.
Located approximately 120 kms (70 miles) from the Port of Wyndham – one of Australia’s closest harbours to India – the Ord River Irigation Area (ORIA) in the Kimberley region of North-Western Austraia represents an opportunity for Austral-Indus agribusiness to combine the ‘Port’ or processing, distribution and export-end of the ORIA Supply Chain, with the requirements of India’s ‘Port to the Plate’ Demand Chain.
Connect is working to assist in coordinating the logistics uniting the ORIA Supply Chain with the ECTA Agribusiness Value Chain.
Agriculture As A Pillar Of The Austral-Indus Economies
In 2022, under the overarching strategy entitled ‘Accelerating our economic integration’, the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) published ‘An update to An India Economic Strategy to 2035: Navigating from potential to delivery’, DFAT stated, (quote P.05), “The Government is working to position Australia as India’s primary agribusiness partner, a key supplier of agricultural commodities and partner in technical knowledge. We will pursue greater market access as a first order priority.”
Concurrently, DFAT published the ECTA Regulation Impact Statement (RIS). The RIS states that (quote P.74), “Agriculture is an important pillar of the Australian and Indian economies with shared challenges and climactic conditions. Recognising the long history of collaboration in agricultural research, education, development and capacity building, it was jointly decided to continue building on our mutually beneficial agriculture relationship.”
