Located 1,535 kms (954 miles) north of Perth and 241 kms (150 miles) south-west of Port Hedland, the modern city of Karratha in the Pilbara region, adjoins the Port of Dampier.

The 4,400 hectares of the Anketell Strategic Industrial Area (Anketell SIA), falls within the Local Planning Strategy of the City of Karratha Shire. Anketell SIA has been established by the Western Australian government to provide industrial processing areas that achieve beneficial economic, environmental and community outcomes. The City of Karratha desires to promote Anketell SIA as an Industrial Hub on an international scale.

Karratha Airport offers daily flights to Western Australia’s capital city, Perth, and scheduled flights to the North-West towns of Port Hedland and Broome, as well as to Australia’s capital cities Brisbane, Darwin, Melbourne and Sydney.

Karratha is the gateway to the Pilbara’s awe-inspiring Karijini National Park, whilst Dampier offers access to one of Northern Australia’s best-kept fishing, snorkelling and diving secrets, the Dampier Archipelago.
