The historic coastal Town of Broome in the Shire of Derby/West Kimberley and the inland Town of Kununurra in the Shire of Wyndham/East Kimberley, are the Kimberley region’s two main service hubs.

The Broome International Airport offers daily flights to Perth and many of Western Australia’s regional centres, and to Australia’s capital cities of Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. Direct seasonal flights are also available to and from Singapore.

The Town of Kununurra is located 1,044 km (649 miles) north-east of Broome. Built just north of Australia’s largest mainland body of freshwater, Lake Argyle, Kununurra is the gateway to the Ord River Irrigation Area (ORIA) and home to the grower-owned Ord River District Cooperative (ORDCO).

Kununurra is connected by road to Port Hedland (1,587 kms/986 miles/16-hours) and Karratha (1,850 kms/527 miles/18-hours). The Port of Wyndham, located 101 kms (63 miles) from Kununurra, exports Maize from across Northern Australia and produce from the ORIA.
