The Pilbara is serviced by two-deep water ports offering general cargo facilities. Port Hedland, located on the outskirts of the historical Town of Port Hedland; and, the Port of Dampier, located close to the modern, well-serviced City of Karratha.
Both ports offer access to Strategic Industrial Areas (SIAs). Designed for investment in downstream processing and other strategic industrial activities, the SIAs have been selected for their proximity to human resource and industrial-grade infrastructure.
